ENGLISH BEEF AND LAMB EXECUTIVE (EBLEX)

The English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) was established in 2001 to help the English beef and lamb industry boost its competitiveness and promote its products.  As an executive committee of the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC), EBLEX is funded through a MLC levy paid on all sheep and beef animals slaughtered in England.  It also obtains grant funding for specific projects from a variety of sources.

As well as delivering a wide range of technology transfer, marketing and promotional programmes to the English industry, EBLEX owns the Quality Standard Mark for beef and lamb.  This is currently the only UK assurance scheme to cover both eating quality and production standards.   EBLEX also runs the Better Returns Programme aimed at improving the efficiency of beef and sheep production.
