The Cumbria Farmer Network is a farmer owned not-for-profit company. It carries out some activities exclusively for members e.g. the farm plastic recycling scheme; carcase disposal scheme, livestock transport tests and some for the benefit of agriculture in general. These include the farm assistant scheme which encourages young people into farming, technical on-farm demonstrations/workshops and organising open days for the public and local schools. The Company uses people with a farming background to carry out its work and currently receives funding from the Northern Rock foundation.
