RAKEHEAD FARM

NATEBY, KIRKBY STEPHEN

VISITORS

This farm offers a warm welcome to visitors and asks them to keep to the marked footpaths, keep dogs on the lead, and close all gates behind them.

ACCESS

There are 4 permissive rights of way on the farm and a network of public rights of way.  The farm also sits alongside two well known routes:-

  • The Stenkrith poetry trail is a footpath bordered by the Dixon’s land and has plaques and art work inspired by each month of the farming year along the route. A booklet about the walk may be obtained from the East Cumbria Countryside Project at www.eccp.org.uk.
  • Also of note, is the access route created by the Upper Eden Railway Trust which makes use of a disused railway line from Kirkby Stephen.

There is around 360 ha of fell land on the farm which has been opened up for access as a result of the CROW act.
