The farm welcomes visitors throughout the year. There are two caravans (occupancy: April-October 85%) with many guests returning each year, there is a double room en-suite in the house (occupancy: all year round 40%) and a Gypsy Caravan (dating back to 1722). Bookings are now being taken for 2008.

In 2006, Alison won The Country Living magazine's "Best New Business" in the Women In Rural Enterprise Awards at Hampton Court London.
In addition to that she spoke about rural life on a hill farm in Radio 4's Ramblings programme with Clare Balding in July 2007, guiding her over the Howgill fells, and is due to feature in the Dales Diary TV programme in September 2007.

There is one footpath going through the farm and a circular farm walk has been created for guests.
Shacklabank hosts public agency meetings; there is a meeting room available.
Alison organises walks outside the farm business and also walks a couple of times a year to raise money for various local charities in Cumbria and Yorkshire. Alison will be, along with other locals, organising the first ever Sedbergh Walking Festival to be held in May 2008. Alison will be writing the routes and guide on many of the walks.
